The Keweenaw Tread Fest is a new mountain biking event being held at the Michigan Tech Trails in Houghton, Michigan on June 17. There are options for all riders including a two lap race (~25 miles), one lap race (~12 miles) and youth events.
The 12 and 25 mile races will feature the flow trail “Just Mite” with the 25 mile race taking riders on additional loops of singletrack and the flow trail “Don’t Think.” The cash prize money and podium spots will be dependent on the number of racers. There will be a cash prize awarded to overall male and female podium finishers in 2-lap race, cash prizes and awards in each class for the 2-lap race, and awards in each class for the 1-lap race.
Youth racers will ride a lap of 1.5 miles with the option of doing 1 or 2 laps and there will be a free 75 yard event for the youngest riders.

For riders of the ages 13-19 the annual Junior Mountain Biking Camp, coached by Brian Matter, will be held June 18-22. Camp participants will develop riding skills, get training ideas and learn race strategies while tackling the singletrack at Michigan Tech, Maasto Hiihto/Churning Rapids, Swedetown, the Adventure Mine and Copper Harbor.
